Orelle is located in the Maurienne valley which has become known as the ‘Fourth Valley’ in the ‘Three Valleys’ ski domain. Orelle was connected to Courchevel, Meribel, Val Thorens and the minor satellite resorts of Les 3 Vallées in 1996.

Orelle consists of 10 hamlets dotted around the ski lift base at located at Francoz (900m). This location offers 450 free car parking spaces, toilets, changing rooms, heated ski lockers and automated lift pass sales machines. From here riders can take the 10 seater R1-Orelle gondola lift to the base the patrolled ski area at Plan Bouchet (2350m).

The Orelle valley has FreeRide opportunities almost everywhere you look, as well as the ‘Pierre Lory’ unpatrolled itinerary running from Plan Bouchet back to the ski lift base at Francoz.

The local mayors office is responsible for ensuring that there is appropriate on mountain safety resources in place, this is sub contracted to the operator of the ski area, the Société des 3 Vallées. All costs associated with a rescue or intervention are charged to the individuals involved.
