Ski outSuper easy access 45° couloir where snow quality holds up well for long periods after a dump.
Access couldn't be easier. From the top of the 'Dou des Lanches' chairlift turn right and head around the far side of 'Le 1928' restaurant. There is usually an obvious cat track (walkers path) that leads slightly uphill to an observation point, communications tower and hut, if you can see the Gasex tanks, you know you're heading in the right direction.

For such an easily accessible line the stoke is surprisingly high. It's not vertiginously steep but over 45° in places, so with the addition of some rider formed bumps in the centre, tempting natural features to drop, raised sides of the couloir in places and a bit of lift line pressure it all adds up to fun times.
Not super high on the GNAR bar but you don't want to fall here as it would be a long and fast slide to the bottom, with bumps and rocks that could leave you a bit battered. In addition, knowing everyone riding the chair would be witness to your fall might also leave you with a dent in your pride. Fortunately there isn't any serious exposure so you'd have to be pretty unlucky to be badly injured if you did take a tumble. As always things feel more serious with hard conditions underfoot but in soft snow any GNAR induced anxiety would be easily replaced with a perma-powder grin. It's worth noting that 'Dou des Lanches' roughly translates to 'Gully of Avalanches' and there is a reason that the whole face is peppered with gasex cannons.
What FreeRider doesn't love staring at mountains? This is a great view of the Bozel valley and the surrounding mountains. If you have a moment or are stopping for a snack, it's worthwhile having a look at a peakfinder app https://www.peakfinder.org/ to see what you're looking at.
