Long Hike Out

Awesome FreeRide line right off the top of the Pyramide drag lift in Courchevel 1650 with a bonus hike/skin/push/skate out through the stunning Vallee des Avals.
Is this the best FreeRide line out of Courchevel 1650? It must surely be in the top five. It's super easy to access from the top of the Pyramide drag lift and comes with a bonus hike out of the stunning Vallee des Avals back to the Granges teleski. With 500m of vertical descent over 1.2km it has a bit of everything - open faces at the drop in, a wild canyon in the midsection and some sweet turns in the trees to finish. It's relatively low starting at a modest 2400m so it's one to keep in mind when the upper slopes are out of bounds. However, to get the most from this line - and to stay out of trouble -  choose a day with excellent visibility. The views are out of this world  but you can't afford to lose your way.

Access

Super easy access line from the top of the Pyramide drag lift (2400m) but not one that's easy to scope beforehand as it finishes in the Valley des Avals (1900) which is a popular hiking trail but is not lift served. There are multiple terrain hazards so this is not a line to take on in poor visibility.

9

Tech

It's possible to hike/skate the 4km out of the Valley des Avals back to the bottom of the Granges drag lift but skins are recommended.

10

Stoke

If this line doesn't get you stoked then please check your pulse. You may require urgent medical assistance.

4

Gnar

For most of it's length it's possible to ride this line on slopes under 30 degrees so it presents minimal avalanche hazard but beware of connected terrain - you're dropping into the Vallee des Avals which is so named for a reason. The real hazards are the cliff bands which flank the route and which could present a terrain trap or a fall should you become disorientated.

10

Awe

Much like the stoke this line delivers, the views into the Vallee des Avals and the Breche Portetta on the opposite side of the valley will get your pulse racing.
